In this article, I will share my personal experience of getting a job in Dubai. I completed a BBA in Finance, and after that, I worked as an HR Administrator in a startup firm in Bengaluru. My role was in the quality department, where I worked for around five months. During that time, I also completed a certification course in Business Analysis.
After that, I planned to move to Dubai for better career opportunities and financial stability. I immediately booked a two-month visit visa and a flight ticket—without any other plans. It was a sudden decision.
I informed a friend who was already working in Dubai in the construction sector. He offered me bed space, and within ten days, I arrived. Looking back, it was the best decision I ever made.
However, after arriving, I faced tough times. I realized thousands of people come here daily, and there is a huge competition for jobs. Every day, companies receive a high volume of applications, and there is no real demand for employees.
I decided to strategize. No matter what, I was not going back. I set a goal—to send at least 200 job applications daily. I also researched which jobs had the highest demand in Dubai. The answer was clear: "Accountant." So, alongside applying for administration jobs, I started preparing myself for accounting roles using YouTube and ChatGPT.
Every day, I applied for 200 jobs—150 in my field of administration and 50 in accounting.
For the first 15 days, I did not receive any interview calls. On the 16th day, I finally got one. They asked me to attend an interview near Al Nahda Metro Station in Dubai. I was excited, as it was my first interview call. However, after reaching the location and completing the first interview round, they asked me to pay 300 AED. That’s when I realized it was a scam. I quickly left. That day was painful and filled with disappointment.
But I didn’t give up. I continued applying consistently through Indeed and LinkedIn—two of the most trusted job platforms in Dubai. I attended many interviews.
On the 20th day of my visit visa, I got a job offer as an Admin cum Accountant. However, they informed me that the job location was far from Dubai—in Al Ghail, Ras Al Khaimah, an industrial area. When I arrived, I realized it was another scam. I was trapped, but within seven days, I managed to escape.
This experience left me in a traumatic state. It took me over a week to recover. It still feels like a nightmare.
Despite everything, I strongly decided not to give up. I had no second chance—this was my only opportunity for a better life.
I hit the lowest point in my life, but I kept pushing. I attended multiple walk-in interviews. Finally, on the 50th day of my visit visa, I secured a job as an Accountant at "Amer Immigration"—one of the most reputable companies in Dubai (UAE). The salary package was good, and the work environment was excellent.
There’s so much more I could share, but I don’t want to bore you. The one thing I want to tell my readers is: Never give up.
